Nonprofit LA Tweetup
Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 7:00 - 9:00 pm (or as long as you want to stay)
6530 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood
You don’t have to be on Twitter to come, as long as you work for or with nonprofits (or are nonprofit-friendly) we’d love to have you join us. Please RSVP so we know how many people to expect. Hope to see you there!
None of us nonprofit types seem to get out much, so it hasn’t been simple finding a good location for us to meet on June 2nd. The more feedback on this we can get from you, the better. So far it seems that West LA is fairly central for most people. I’m guessing that WiFi would be a good idea, but most places that have it are just coffee shops or are not suitable for a group. Let us know if WiFi is a must to make your experience better or if we can do without.
Here are some ideas so far for locations, with the rationales:
Do any of those strike your fancy? Do you have a better idea to throw into the mix? Let’s talk about it in the comments here. Thank you!
Just added: Also, does 7 pm sound like a good time for everyone?
We have a date for the first nonprofitLA tweetup! It will happen the evening of Tuesday, June 2, 2009. More details will follow soon.
Let your friends who work with nonprofits or have an interest in nonprofit issues know about the upcoming event as well. If you’re not already following the @nonprofitla Twitter account, that will be our main source of info as it happens.
Hope to see you there!
last night Jeremy Sullivan fixed the facebook connect feature so now everyone who has a facebook account join the fun.
some action items
I do believe Dan Portnoy is working on making this theme more #npla twitter feed friendly.
other than that I believe a next step may be a quick coffee time with primary stakeholders.
ok peeps, it is your turn.
everybody say hello to Jerm. he’s a code freak that keeps me from drinking since i hate CODE. he has not stopped by yet but will tonight. i am trying to add the facebook connect feature but need HELP!
this is intended to be an open source collaboration space so anything and everything is subject to change. if you know of features or plugins that will help us be more creative and efficient please let me know.
i just picked this theme quickly but again this is subject to change. ideally i was looking for a theme that was just the top of page and a large footer so we could add the twitter widget search like on http://theideacamplive.com. top half posts/commets - bottom half - #npla twitter - Dan or Jerm (or anyone) if you know how to make that happen PLEASE do!
for the tweetup we need:
@nedra sent this link that may be of help

for this site:
i beleive i set this up so anyone can now join and write posts. if it’s not working sorry. once Jerm fixes my mess.
too me, if we keep this simple and just take it slow (we are all busy) this could be lots of fun.
again, nothing i have done here is set in stone. i am just a make-things-happen guy and thought i’d give this LA nonprofit tweetup a little push to get going.
hugs,
-M
the goal of this website is to become a collaborative space for those who are interested to work together and make a Los Angeles nonprofit tweetup a reality.
If anyone knows of features we can add to this to make it more open source and collaborative please give a yell
Soooo, jump in and let’s affect real change
